Men's Basketball Drops Double Overtime Heartbreaker to Cobleskill

DELHI, N.Y. — MJ Ford scored 38 points as SUNY Cobleskill defeated the SUNY Delhi men's basketball team 97-88 in double overtime Saturday in a North Atlantic Conference game at Floyd L. Maines Arena.

The Broncos (5-14, 4-8 NAC) led 43-29 at halftime and were tied 77-77 at the end of regulation but were outscored 20-11 in the extra periods by the Tigers (8-10, 7-5 NAC). Delhi shot 43.8 percent (35-of-80) from the field, including 34.6 percent (9-of-26) from 3-point range, while Cobleskill hit 41.7 percent (25-of-60) overall and went 38-of-49 from the free-throw line.

Abdul-Jaleel Ibrahim led SUNY Delhi with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Adan Madera added 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jason Tagios had 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Kai Harvey dished out nine assists to go with eight points and two steals.

The Broncos forced 23 Cobleskill turnovers, converting them into 23 points, and outscored the Tigers 50-30 in the paint.

Ford went 12-of-20 from the field for Cobleskill, adding six rebounds. Conor Holland scored 17 points, and Chrischen Chung had 15 points.

Delhi fell to 5-14 overall and 4-8 in conference play. The Broncos return to conference action with a trip to Vermont, facing VTSU Lyndon and VTSU Johnson on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, respectively..
