PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE - The Delhi Broncos Men's Basketball (2-12, 1-6 NAC) team fought to the final seconds on Tuesday, falling 73-71 at UMPI (3-10, 2-5 NAC).
It was a tightly conested game the whole way with the lead changing hands multiple times in the first half. The Broncos held an eight-point lead with 6:28 to play in the first, but a 15-5 run from the hosts saw Delhi head into the break holding on to a two-point deficit. A couple of early baskets in the second frame gave UMPI a buffer, and besides a 19-second stretch with 13 minutes to play, saw the Broncos playing from behind from the rest of the contest.
Abdul-Jaleel Ibrahim once again led the team in scoring, putting up 19 points while shooting 3-6 from behind-the-arc. Noah Colin had a strong performance, putting up 13 points and six rebounds, while Adan Madera pumped in 12 and six in the effort. Kai Harvey rounds out the Broncos to reach double-digit scoring, tallying 11.
Tyson Engent led the Owls with 17 points, with Doug McCalla and Yuki Ishibashi pumping in 14 a piece in the win. McCalla also pulled in 11 boards to record his double-double.
The Broncos are back in action at home for the first time since early December hosting Thomas on Saturday and Lesley Sunday, both at 1 p.m.
