PRESQUE ISLE, MAINE - The Delhi Broncos Women's Basketball team (2-11, 1-6 NAC) put together a total team effort en route to a 60-57 victory at UMPI (1-11, 0-7 NAC) on Tuesday.
The Broncos had arguably their best quarter of the season to open the game, pulling out to a 20-9 nine lead after the first frame and increasing the lead to 13 by the half. The Owls chipped away in the third quarter before getting themselves right back into contention, culminating in a two-point game with five minutes to play. An Aniyah Boston layup with four minutes to go and a dagger three from Riley Schmidt a minute later saw the Broncos emerge victorious.
Alani Brock led the Broncos in scoring in her second game back with the team, putting up 14 points off the bench on an efficient 7-11 shooting. Sarah Gaetano was the only other Bronco to tally double-digits, recording two field goals while going 6-10 from the line. Transfer Aniyah Boston led the team in rebounds from the guard position, hauling in nine.
The Owls received 50 points from the tandem of Aleyah Matheson and Lindsay Hamilton, while the other six Owls to enter the game combined for seven points.
With the win the Broncos have tied their highest win total since the 2019-2020 season, where they managed to win seven games.
The Broncos are back in action with a couple of home conference matchups this weekend, hosting Thomas on Saturday and Lesley Sunday, both at 3:00 p.m.
