DELHI, N.Y. — SUNY Delhi fell 74–43 at home to Vermont State University Lyndon on Saturday afternoon. The Broncos trailed just 29–28 at halftime after a strong second quarter but were outscored 21–6 in the third, allowing Lyndon to take control down the stretch.
Delhi opened the game competitively, matching Lyndon on the glass and generating early second-chance opportunities. The Broncos trailed 13–11 after the first quarter and responded with one of their most efficient periods of the season, shooting nearly 40 percent in the second while holding Lyndon to 6-for-19 from the field. A late scoring push brought Delhi within one at the break, 29–28.
The momentum shifted in the third quarter, where Lyndon created the decisive separation. The Hornets scored on their first three possessions, extended defensive pressure, and forced seven Delhi turnovers in the period. Delhi shot 2-for-14 in the quarter as Lyndon built a 50–34 advantage entering the fourth. Lyndon added 24 points in the final period—eight coming in transition—to close out the afternoon.
Sarah Gaetano led Delhi with 11 points, going 7-for-9 at the free-throw line. N'Dera Francis added nine points and five rebounds, while Sereena Palau contributed three assists. Juanita Guzman anchored the interior with a team-high 17 rebounds and five points. The Broncos collected 26 offensive rebounds but shot 14-for-67 from the field.
The loss drops Delhi to 1–8 overall and 0–4 in NAC play. The Broncos continue conference action next week.
