CANTON, N.Y. - The Delhi Broncos Women's Basketball team opened up its season with a two-game weekend in Canton, falling to Franciscan 72-48 and the hosts 95-51 in non-conference match-ups.
Mya Aitken led the Broncos against the Barons on Saturday, scoring 22 points off the bench on an efficient 7-for-17 from the floor and 2-for-5 from three. Gianna Schmidt anchored the Delhi presence, tallying a team-high seven rebounds and a steal. Three different players tallied double digits for Franciscan, with Jazzlyn Melnyk adding an impressive 17 rebounds.
Mya Aitken once again led the Broncos in scoring against Canton, firing in 11 points and adding three rebounds. Sarah Gaetano had a team season high with six assists on the day, and Riley Schmidt chipped in eight points shooting 50% from three and the field. Five different Roos tallied double-digits in an all-around offensive explosion out of the host squad.
The Broncos are back in action Saturday, Nov. 15th for their home opener against Keuka at 2:00 p.m.
