DELHI, NY - The Delhi Broncos Women's Basketball team fell to Keuka 66-42 in their home opener Saturday, Nov. 15th. With the loss the Broncos fall to 0-3 and the Wolves of Keuka improve to 2-2.
The Broncos got off to a slow start in what would be a tough shooting night for the host squad, falling into a 18-8 hole by the end of the first period. A Bronco rally late in the third period cut the lead all the way down to 10 at one point, but Keuka was able to fend off the surge to capture their second victory of the season on the road.
Offensively it was a two-Bronco show, with first-year Mya Aiken continuing her strong start to the year with another 16 points while Kapriece Sigler began to find her form with a 14 point performance, with several contested layups to allow Delhi to come back and mount an effort in the second half. Gianna Schmidt anchored the boards with six rebounds, and Riley Schmidt and Sigler each added two steals for the Broncos. Brooke Burd was the leading scorer for the Wolves, putting in a 16-point game on 6-12 shooting.
The Broncos are back in action Tuesday night at Albany College of Pharmacy for a non-conference matchup.
