COBLESKILL, N.Y. - The Delhi Broncos Volleyball team battled all night on Wednesday, overcoming adveristy on multiple occasions to beat local rival Cobleskill in five sets.
It was a tight, back-and-forth affair from the start, with the teams alternating and Cobleskill taking the first and third sets, and Delhi taking the second and fourth sets. The Tigers got out to a hot start in the deciding fifth set, leading 12-7 in a race to 15 points before a strong serving rotation from Miranda Mosco and three consecutive kills for Kayla Nuss brought Delhi right back to even at 12 a piece. From there a couple more Nuss kills and Cobleskill attacking errors led to the Broncos walking away victorious, stealing the set 17-15.
Nuss tied the program record for kills in a match, matching Dani Jake's mark of 26 set in the 2007 season against Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Audrey Logsdon pitched in 27 digs to bolster the Bronco defense, and setter Laurel Poston recorded 40 assists in a match for the second time this season, tying her career-high. Noelle Placanica and Mosco added nine and seven kills respectively in the effort, and Mosco pitched in another 18 digs on what was a career night for the first-year.
