Volleyball Drops 3-2 Battle at Husson
BANGOR, MAINE - The Delhi Bronco's Women's Volleyball team travelled to Bangor, Maine to take on NAC opponent Husson Sunday, Oct. 12th after their tri-match on Saturday, battling all the way to end but eventually losing the match three sets to two. 
 
First Set 
The match started off very back and forth with both teams trading points. The Broncos would be the first to ten points with the Eagles following closely. The Broncos would then go on a seven-point run, never looking back to win the first set easily by a score of 25-16. 
 
Second Set 
The Broncos would start the second set off on the right foot, jumping out to a 10-4 lead. The Eagles would claw their way back into this game and find themselves tied up with the Broncos at 23. Delhi and Husson would now trade blows with neither side able to create any separation, tying the match at 26. The Eagles would take the next two points with a kill from Mikayla Gray and a service ace from Amanda Mei Morse to win the set 28-26. 
 
Third Set
The Eagles would get out to a 18-10 lead in the third set, having the advantage, they never gave the Broncos a chance to fight their way back into this set, eventually winning it 25-18. 
 
Fourth Set
With the Eagles up two sets to one, Delhi would answer the call and get out to a quick 7-3 lead before Husson would tie the game up at 10. After the tie, the Broncos got a five-point lead and never let the Eagles get close again, winning the set 25-17 and tying the match at two sets a piece. 
 
Fifth Set
Entering the final set of play, the Broncos got out to a four-point lead behind three straight kills with two of them coming from junior Kayla Nuss and first year Skyler Furtado adding one of her own. Husson would fight off the Bronco attack and tie the game at 10 a piece before the Eagles would go on to win five straight points and win the fifth set 15-10. 
For the Broncos, Kayla Nuss led the way offensively once again recording 16 kills while Skyler Furtado was right behind her with 13 kills of her own. Laurel Poston was impressive in the loss, tallying 36 assists to go along with 12 digs. Senior Audrey Logsdon anchored the defense notching 17 digs with Nuss recording 11 digs of her own. The Eagles were led by Julia Leavitt and Janna Preskorn who had 14 and 11 kills respectively. Preskorn was also able to record 15 digs tying for a team high with Mikayla Gray. 
 
The Delhi Broncos Women's Volleyball team will be back in action Wednesday Oct. 15th at 6:00pm, where they will be travelling over the hill to take on Hartwick College in a late season non-conference matchup.
