ALFRED, N.Y. - The Delhi Broncos Men's Soccer team concluded non-conference play with a win at Alfred University Wednesday, improving to 8-3-5.
The Saxons got on the board first when Rodrigo Perez found the back of the net in the 26th minute, giving the home squad the lead that they carried into break. In the second half Umaru Conteh came alive for the Broncos, scoring six minutes into the frame to level the score and again with ten to play that would end up being the game winner, both unassisted. Junior Salvatore Meloni registered the win in net for the Broncos, turning away two of the three shots on target that the Delhi defense allowed.
The Broncos head to Cobleskill to wrap up regular season play Saturday, Oct. 25th, with the NAC #2 seed still in sight. With a win at Cobleskill and a Husson loss or draw vs. Maine Maritime Academy the Broncos would move from the #3 seed to the #2 seed, where they would host a semi-final game Saturday, Nov. 1st. A loss or draw by the Broncos or win from Husson would result in Delhi earning the #3 seed, hosting a first-round game before a potential trip to Maine for the semi-finals.
