NEWBURGH, N.Y. - The Delhi Broncos Men's Soccer team tied the Knights of Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) 1-1 in a non-conference matchup Wednesday, Sept. 3rd, bringing their season record to 0-2-1.
Mount Saint Mary struck early when J.C Gutierrez scored in the sixth minute to give the Knights the lead. Despite multiple scoring chances, including a Mount Saint Mary penalty kick stopped by Delhi sophomore Salvatore Meloni, the score would remain the same well into the second half.
The Broncos netted the equalizer in the 81st minute as first year Jake Carroll scored his first collegiate goal on a feed from sophomore Kian Flynn. A frantic nine minutes would ensue, but neither team was able to score the go-ahead goal ending the contest in a draw.
Delhi is back in action Saturday, Sept. 6th at 3:00 P.M. on the road for a non-conference matchup against Alfred State.
