DELHI, N.Y. - The Delhi Broncos Men's Soccer team took care of business Wednesday, Sept. 10th to record their first win on the year against visiting Morrisville.
It was a highly competitive, physical contest from the start, with both teams having to work to create chances. Despite a couple through balls that threatened both defenses, both sides held firm and the first half would go scoreless.
20 minutes after the second half began, the Broncos were able to find the back of the net for the lone score. Junior Aidan Gaughan fired a ball into the box on a corner kick, and first year Umaru Conteh was able to settle the ball and beat the Mustang's keeper. Sophomore transfer Ayden Grieve got his first start in net for the Broncos, recording a shutout and turning away the only shot on goal the Mustangs were able to muster.
The Broncos open up North Atlantic Conference play Saturday, Sept. 13th on the road at Thomas.
