Lewisburg, PA - The Delhi Broncos Track and Field programs continued their strong performances with their first big meet of the outdoor season at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Invitational. This meet brings in top talent from all over the northeastern United States across all divisions of college athletics. The Broncos responded well to the the challenge, using it as an opportunity to break two more program records and post numerous top times.
The highlight of the meet came from the women's 4x400 meter relay. Zoe Rodi (58.7), Miranda Cole (55.1) crushed the early legs of the race to get Delhi out in the front of the pack. Then Amanda Intrieri (59.11) and Gabrielle Brown (57.92) closed out the second half in strong fashion to post a total time of 3:50.82. This shatters the program record of 3:58.50 set last spring. The performance was good for second place overall in the meet, just behind Division I Duquesne and well ahead of Division II Shippensburg. That time also ranks 11th in the NCAA III.
Perhaps more impressive is that Intrieri was on her second race of the day. That morning, she had lined up to race the 800 meters where she placed second in her heat and 10th overall with a new program record of 2:11.38. That break the record she set last spring at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships and suggests big things are coming for her this spring. It also closed the weekend ranked ninth in NCAA III.
Another eye-popping result came from Kapriece Sigler. Fresh off a strong indoor campaign in the hurdles, Sigler opened her season at Ramapo with a new lifetime best of 16.29. At Bucknell she found a huge breakthrough, running a massive best of 15.11. That time moves her into the all-time list for the program at second overall and currently ranks at the second fastest time in the SUNYAC this year.
Sprinter Shaesha Johnson ran 24.74 in the 200 meter dash to start her season off well, placing ninth overall.
For the men, Peair Industrious ran a new lifetime best in the 110 High Hurdles, posting a 15.36 second clocking. There were also some strong group performances in the sprints. In the 100 meter dash Jabez Primus (10.91), Deron Davis (10.96) and Cristhian Cuevas (10.97) all cracked the 11 second barrier while Cuevas (21.95 and Primus (21.96) both doubled back to crack 22 seconds in the 200 meters.
Next up for the Broncos is the Cortland Classic.
