Utica, NY - The Delhi men's and women's track and field teams opened their second semester with a trip to Utica University for the Utica winter opener. The meet was highlighted by a new program record and some event wins from the Broncos.
The first record of 2026 fell early. Sophomore Amanda Intrieri ran 5:03.71 to break the program record of 5:18.64 set last year by teammate Charlotte Warner. The performance was good for a second place finish in the meet.
Teammate Shaesha Johnson appears to be picking up where she left off last year. Johnson won the 60 meter dash in 7.72 seconds and the 200 meters in 25.59 seconds. Both of those performances are well ahead of where she was last year at this point in the season. Sprint teammate Miranda Cole also ran to a fourth place finish in the 60 meter dash clocking 8.03.
Some other strong finishes for the women came from the 4x200 meter relay of Gabrielle Brown, Emma Pelkey, Evie Eastman and Katrina Winters placing second in 1:57.83, Zoe Rodi who placed fourth in the 500 meters in 1:24.88 and Emma Pelkey who was fourth in the high jump at 1.48 meters.
For the men, three Broncos finished third in their respective events. PeairIndustrious ran 8.60 for third in the 60 meter hurdles, Leonardo Ballentine ran 7.18 in the 60 meter dash and Ritchy Louis in the high jump with a clearance of 1.78 meters. Aidan Steele in the triple jump with a mark of 12.85 meters. Chamar Gordon was fourth in the 60 meter dash in 7.19, just behind Ballentine and Aidan Steele took the same place in the triple jump with a mark of 12.85 meters.
Next up for the Broncos is a trip to Ithaca College this weekend.
