Utica, NY - The Delhi Track and Field teams traveled to Utica University for an invitational over the past weekend, highlighted by a number of strong performances.
Leading the way for the men was a trio of hurdlers that all posted new personal bests. Peair Industrious, Christopher Jean Simon and Elliott Kish placed third, fourth and fifth in the meet with times of 8.39, 8.44 and 8.49 respectively. This is the first time in program history that three men ran under 8.50 in the same race and highlights the depth of the team in that event. In the flat 60 meter dash, Marvin Markland placed third overall with a time of 7.05 seconds and Ibrahim Fofana finished third in the 400 meter race with a time of 50.49 seconds. In the longer events, Michael Lilly posted a third place finish in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:03.95.
On the women's side, Shaesha Johnson continued her strong season with a time of 7.67 seconds to win the 60 meter dash. That is the second fastest time in Johnson's career and comes at mid season which bodes well for the rest of the year. Teammate Miranda Cole posted a win in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.61. Another strong finish for the Broncos came from Maria Heebner who placed fifth in the 3000 meters finishing in 11:27.45.
The Broncos now get ready for a trip to Boston to chase some fast times on the magical oval at Boston University where they will compete against the top talent in the country!
