Women's Soccer Drops First Conference Game 2-1

WATERVILLE, Maine - The Delhi Broncos Women's Soccer team lost their conference schedule-opening matchup against Thomas Saturday, Sept. 13th in a 2-1 contest.

In a game that saw Delhi outshoot Thomas 17-7 it would be the Terriers who would open up the scoring in the 25th minute, as Briley Rutledge found the back of the net for an unassisted goal for Thomas. Just nine minutes later the Broncos equalized on sophomore Madison Thorbourne's second goal of the season, assisted by fellow sophomore Camelia Cruz. The teams would enter the half in a stalemate.

In the 61st minute disaster struck for the Broncos, as a defensive miscue on a Terrier set piece led to an own-goal, putting Delhi in a hole they were not able to climb back out of. Senior Shaniyah Myers returned from injury and immediately made an impact for the Broncos, recording four shots that were all on goal.

Delhi is bacn in action tomorrow, Sunday Sept. 14th for the second game of their road trip to Maine, facing Maine Maritime Academy at 1:00 p.m.
