WATERVILLE, Maine — The SUNY Delhi softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader at Thomas on Sunday, falling 2-0 in game one and 3-2 in game two.
Game One: Thomas 2, SUNY Delhi 0
Alethea Ferrara pitched a complete game for Delhi but couldn't get offensive support, as Thomas held the Broncos hitless through most of the contest en route to a 2-0 victory. Delhi managed five hits on the day but couldn't push a run across. Lillian Noyes earned the win for Thomas.
Game Two: Thomas 3, SUNY Delhi 2
Delhi had a chance in game two, as Carly Bernard tripled to left field in the sixth inning to score Kara Fitch and Cayla Moroni and give the Broncos a 2-1 lead. Thomas answered immediately in the bottom of the sixth when Maeve Hickok doubled to right center to plate two and put the Terriers back in front for good. Angelina Dickel started and pitched 5.1 innings before Mikayla Wright came on in relief and took the loss. Bernard finished 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI to pace Delhi, with Moroni and Dickel adding a pair of hits each.
Delhi falls to 5-14 on the season and returns to action Tuesday against Morrisville, with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m.
