Broncos Compete in 2026 SUNYAC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships (UPDATED 2/19)

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Delhi Broncos Swimming & Diving team made their first appearance as a SUNYAC member at the 2026 Swimming & Diving championships on Wednesday, with three more days of competition to come from the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center on the campus of Erie Community College. 

Wednesday

The first day of competition saw two of the men's relay teams take the pool. The quartet of Robert Armstrong, Isaiah Eckman, Dylan Neuhaus-Kilgore and Joel Reece took on the 200-yard medley relay, finishing with a time of 1:50.47 and securing 18 points for their ninth place finish. Jed Sanikidze, Sarthak Thapa, Scott Seamus, and Eckman competed in the 800-yard freestyle, finishing ninth with a time of 9:44.99 and also taking home 18 points for their efforts. After day 1 the men sit tied with Potsdam for ninth place with 36 points, and there has yet to be a competitor on the women's side. Every Bronco is slated for at least one race tomorrow, with a loaded day of competition to look forward to.

Thursday

The first Bronco to compete on Friday was Scott, who finished the Men's 500-yard freestyle in 6:47.61 followed by a DNF from Neuhaus-Kilgore in the 200-yard individual medley. Then it was on to the 50-yard freestyle, which saw six total Broncos compete with Eckman (24.95, 31st), Sanikidze (24.98, 32nd), Reese (25.32, 34th), Neuhaus-Kilgore (25.41, 35th), and Thapa (41st, 31.10) representing the men's team in a stacked 48-man field, and Olivia McPeek (31.58, 39th) and Emalyn Kulp (31.68, 40th) for the women. These times were good enough for season bests for Eckman, Sanikidze, McPeek, and Kulp.

The night concluded with the 200-yard freestyle relay finals, which saw the squad of Armstrong, Sanikidze, Reese, and Neuhaus-Kilgore take a home a meet-high 8th place finish with a time of 1:38.01, bringing in 22 more points for the team. After two days the men are 10th with 58 points, with the women's team yet to secure a point. Tommorow the Broncos will take on the men's 400 yard individual medley, men's 200-yard freestyle, men's 100-yard breaststroke, women's 100 yard breaststroke, men's 100-yard backstroke, momen's 100-yard backstroke, and the men's 400-yard medley relay.

Friday

Armstrong opened competition for the Broncos Friday morning, taking 17th in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:01.55. Sanikidze and Scott both faced the 200-yard freestyle, placing 23rd and 27th respectively, before the Bronco trio of Eckman (19th, 1:08.18),  Reece (27th, 1:15.62) and Thapa (28, 1:17.13) competed in the 100-yard breaststroke. The afternoon session saw Armstrong and the relay team of Reece, Eckman, Armstrong, and Sanikidze competing in the finals of the 100-yard backstroke and the 400-yard medley relay. Armstrong brought home 15th and 2 points for his 1:01.27 in the backstroke and the relay squad tied Delhi's highest finish at the meet, taking 8th and with it 22 more points.

Kulp put in a 1:30.77 in the 100-yard breaststroke, and McPeek managed a 1:26.64 in the 100-yard backstroke to represent the women's side. 

After the big points performance of the relay team the Broncos have swapped places with Potsdam and now occupy 9th in the men's team rankings, within striking distance of eight-place Fredonia who sits at 91 points while Delhi holds 82.
