NORTHFIELD, Vt. — The SUNY Delhi men's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Saturday morning, falling 6-1 to No. 2 seed Norwich in the first round of the 2026 Empire 8 Men's Tennis Championship at Shapiro Fieldhouse.
Norwich, the East Division's second seed, swept doubles play to take the early advantage and never relinquished it. Diego Lorente Fuentes and Lily Walker won 6-4 at No. 3 doubles, and the Cadets followed with 7-5 wins at both No. 2 and No. 1 to claim the doubles point.
In singles, Jaxson Redmond and Terrance Bayly-Henshaw delivered straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2, and Lorente Fuentes added a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win over Nolan Kleinsasser at No. 3 to clinch the match. Devin Guerrieri picked up Delhi's lone point with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Stephen Hartigan at No. 4 singles.
With the loss, the Broncos finish the season at 7-9 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 East Division play. Norwich (13-3) advances to face St. John Fisher in the Empire 8 Semifinals at Thomas College on Friday, May 1.
