Program Records Fall at Penn Relays as Team Shines with 7 First-Place Finishes at Vassar Spring Invite

The SUNY Delhi track & field team continued their outdoor campaign with individuals competing at Penn Relays and the Vassar Spring Invite, recording several impressive individual and team performances. 

At Penn Relays, notable team performances came by way of the men's 4x200 that saw the relay squad of Deron Davis, Ransom Dutcher, Jabez Primus, and Cristhian Cuevas set a new program record with a time of 1:27.60. The women's sprint medley relay would follow suit with a new program record of their own, consisting of Shaesha Johnson, Miranda Cole, Zoe Rodi, and Amanda Intrieri recording a time of 4:04.75. 

At the Vassar Spring Invite, Eddie Bradley would kick things off for the Broncos, taking second place in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:30.22. Tawakal Omar would continue his dominance in the 110m hurdles, capturing first overall with a time of 15.00. Jamar Matthew would follow the trend, taking first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.18. Delhi's run on first-place finishers wasn't done yet, as Deron Davis led the field in the 100m with a time of 10.87. 

On the women's side, Belvia Konodji had herself a strong outing, earning her highest solo finish of the season, taking second in the 400m, recording a time of 1:01.09, while also taking third in the 200m. In that same 200m, Miranda Cole and Zoe Rodi would continue to perform on day two of competition. Cole took first with a time of 25.43, followed by Rodi in second, posting a 26.09. It would also be consecutive days of competition for Shaesha Johnson, who remained at the top of her game, claiming the top spot in the 100m with a time of 12.36. 

In the field events portion, Alyssa Cole earned first place in the javelin throw with a best of 32.66m, while for the men's javelin throw, Amari Price would take bronze with a best of 37.83m. Melinda Reid claimed second in the women's high jump, while Ritchy Louis would do the same for the men. Aidan Steele went on to lead the way in the triple jump, posting a best of 13.03m. 

The Broncos will now shift their attention to the SUNYAC Outdoor Championships on Friday, May 2nd.
