Nine Broncos Earn All-American at NCAA Track and Field Championships, Cole Takes Third in 200 Meters

Lacrosse, WI – The SUNY Delhi Track and Field team closed their season this weekend with an appearance at the NCAA Track and Field Championships.  The team sent a contingent of nine athletes to compete in four different events at the highest level and the results were incredible.

On Thursday, the first athletes to compete were Miranda Cole and Shaesha Johnson in the 200 meters.  Cole again broke her own school record in the event with a fantastic run, clocking 23.67 seconds to advance to the final.  Shaesha Johnson did not advance to the final, but her run of 24.48 earned her an 11th place finish earning second team All-American.

Next on the schedule was the women's 4x400 relay.  Zoe Rodi led the team off with an incredible performance, splitting 56.8 seconds and passed off to Miranda Cole. Cole split 55.7, Amanda Intrieri split 57.27 and Gabby Brown closed in 57.03 seconds.  The team time of 3:46.74 again broke the program record and placed them 11th, which earns second team All-American

On Friday, the men's 4x100 meter relay took center stage.  The team of Jabez Primus, Cristhian Cuevas, Deron Davis and Marco Gordon were the last team into the meet and took advantage of the opportunity.  The crew ran their best time of the year, breaking the school record and advancing to Saturday's final.

Amanda Intrieri was the next Bronco to race in her 800-meter preliminary heat.  Intrieri placed fourth in her heat in a new program record time of 2:09.98.  Unfortunately, despite having the eighth fastest time of the day, Intrieri did not advance to the final as there were some automatic qualifiers from another heat that ran slower than her. However, with the record run, Intrieri will officially be the 10th place finisher and earn second team All-American.

On Saturday, the men's 4x100 relay team placed seventh in the final earning first team All-American with their second fastest run of the year.  The team that was the last into the meet will come home with the seventh-place finish in the meet.

The final race for the Broncos was the women's 200 meters where Miranda Cole capped off her career with a third-place overall finish in a finals time of 23.81 seconds earning another first team All-American honor in the event.

Overall, the team broke the Delhi program record in all four events they competed in, earned All-American in all four events and added another great year to the history of the program. Seniors Miranda Cole will graduate with two first team All-American and two second team All-American honors on her resume, while Zoe Rodi will graduate with two career second team All-American honors.  On the men's side, both Deron Davis and Cristhian Cuevas finish their Delhi careers with a first and second team All-American honor each.  Congratulations to these newest alumni of the Delhi program!
