Intrieri Breaks School 6k Record at Rowan

Glasboro, NJ - The Delhi cross country team headed down to New Jersey over the weekend for Rowan Border Battle for a highly competitive race against teams from all over the northeast.  The Broncos collected a number of personal bests with the highlight coming from Sophomore Amanda Intrieri who broke her own school record for the 6-kilometer distance.

Intrieri, who set the 6-kilometer mark last fall when she ran 22:40.6 on the home course at Delhi, took another seven seconds off the mark.  Her time of 22:33.1 was good for a 30th place finish in the loaded field of 296 runners.  Coming across the line second for the Broncos was Evie Eastman in a time 24:28.2 and third was a great showing from first year Maria Heebner in a great time of 24:34.5.  Rounding out the teams top five were Eden Carr and Sofia Melone.

For the men, Michael Lilly found himself under the 26 minute mark for the first time inhis career.  Lilly ran 25:55.7 for the 8-kilometer course placing 61st overall in the field of 327 runners.  Also having a breakthrough race was first year Austin Lafountin who ran 26:35.5.  The Broncos top five was filled out by Liam Cowdrey, Spencer Moreau and Wylie Wakefield.

The Broncos will now set their sights on SUNYAC Championships to be held at Plattsburgh on November 1st.  This will be the Broncos first time cometing in the SUNYAC in cross country after winning the North Atlantic Conference Championship last year.
